Once your Threads profile is connected (see Connecting your Threads account to Ocoya), you can write and schedule Threads posts from Ocoya's composer.
Creating a Threads post
1. Click Create new, then choose New post.
2. Select your Threads channel. Connected profiles appear as avatars above the caption box, each with a small platform badge. Click the one with the Threads badge — a selected channel is highlighted with a ring, and hovering shows the profile name. Click again to deselect.
3. Write your post in the caption field, watching the character count in the top-right.
4. Switch to the Preview tab to check the post before it goes out.
5. Click Schedule to choose a date, time and time zone, or Post now to publish immediately.
Character limit
Threads supports up to 500 characters per post.
Media
Images | Video | |
Maximum per post | 20 (carousel) | 1 |
Supported formats | JPG, PNG | MP4, MOV |
Maximum duration | n/a | Up to 5 minutes |
A recommended image ratio is 4:5 (for example 1080 × 1350) — this takes up the most space in the feed.
Posting more than one image creates a carousel. Images and video can't be combined in the same post.
Links, hashtags and emoji
Links — include https:// so they publish as clickable links.
Hashtags — Threads surfaces a single topic tag per post, so a long list of hashtags is less effective here than on Instagram.
Emoji — fully supported.
Things to be aware of
Ocoya publishes single Threads posts. Building multi-post thread chains isn't part of the scheduling flow.
Direct messages, reposts and quote posts aren't available from Ocoya.
Threads-specific analytics aren't reported in Ocoya.
If fediverse sharing is enabled on your Threads profile, posts published through Ocoya are also shared to the fediverse.
Troubleshooting Threads posting issues
The Schedule button is greyed out
At least one channel must be selected. Check that the Threads avatar above the caption box is highlighted with a ring — if all avatars look dimmed, nothing is selected.
Publishing failed
Check that:
Your Threads profile is still connected under Connections → Channels.
The post is within 500 characters.
Media meets the format and duration requirements above.
The Create and share posts permission was granted when you connected — without it, publishing fails even though the channel looks connected.
Post published without media
Threads rejects unsupported formats. Convert images to JPG or PNG and video to MP4, then republish.
Posts stopped publishing after working before
This usually means the access token has expired or access was revoked in Instagram's settings. Disconnect and reconnect the Threads channel.
